How Matrix is Adapting to the Coronavirus Pandemic
The COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic is changing the way we work and how we interact with our environment and each other. At Matrix Service Company, we are proud we’ve remained fully operational throughout this event. We’ve made strategic changes in every office and on every job site so we can safely partner with our clients to support critical infrastructure and industries around the world.
Learn more about the specific measures we’ve taken to protect the safety of our employees and clients here.
Although we never predicted an event of this magnitude in 2020, we believe the proactive measures we put into place long before this crisis helped us form a decisive response. These initiatives allowed us to honor our commitment to safety, quality, and integrity.
We’ve leveraged our technological resources, strategic locations, efficient operations, and our core values to rise above these challenging times. We stand steadfast as we continue to provide critical services for our clients and their communities.
Information Technology
At Matrix, we’ve invested in technology to allow our teams to work remotely. Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Rick Bennett, worked tirelessly to ensure our teams can remotely access the data and systems they need. Our IT teams helped facilitate a seamless transition to remote work for nearly 4,000 administrative and craft people working across North America and in Australia and South Korea.
In terms of field operations, our engineers at Matrix PDM have designed systems that allow operators to access their systems and facilities remotely. Operators can respond to alarms, make changes to operating parameters, and monitor data in real-time, safely, and from home.
Strategic Locations
Since we opened our doors in 1984, we’ve carefully selected strategic locations for our regional offices, fabrication facilities, and administrative offices. In a time where travel is limited, we are well-positioned to respond to critical projects while minimizing risk for everyone involved. We care about the communities where we work, not only because it’s the right thing, but also because they are our hometowns too.
Operational Efficiency
Efficiency is important for every business, but it’s especially important in adverse operating environments. We stand resolute alongside our clients. With the backing of our parent company, we remain financially stable and equipped to meet customer needs. Our commitment to stewardship is unchanging as we adapt to our present circumstances.
As we serve our clients, we are mitigating any disruptions in supply chains by maintaining close contact with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors. We are also guiding our clients as they strive to “Stretch the OPEX Dollars” with predictive technology rather than strictly planned maintenance.
Our service offerings are well-integrated. Matrix’s EPC and EPCM services help our clients maximize value as they adjust their operations or take their business in new directions. We can also help clients save money in existing facilities through Asset Integrity Maintenance or improvements to Automation systems and Distributed Control Systems (DCS.)
Commitment to Safety
Our core values guide everything we do. Our commitment to safety in these extraordinary times is a natural extension of our Eliminate Accidents/Zero Incidents safety program. We have and will continue to monitor guidance from the CDC and OSHA. Our leadership teams put the well-being of our employees and clients first. We believe safety starts with personal responsibility. As individuals and as an organization, we will act with integrity as we navigate the evolving situation in the COVID-19 pandemic.
