Shell – Puget Sound Refinery FCCU Revamp and Tar – 2019

Matrix Service completed the 2019 FCCU revamp and turnaround for Shell at the Puget Sound Refinery. The project included over 168,000 manhours; peak manpower was 178.
Turnaround - Reactor:
- Hydro-cut and remove RX OH line for re-use
- Hydro-cut and remove old RX head, shell and dragon head
- Install New RX head, shell and dragon head
- Install RX OH line
- Tie in RX and steam piping
Turnaround - Regenerator:
- Hydro-cut and remove Regen OH line for re-use
- Hydro-cut and remove old Regen head
- Hydro-cut and remove spent cat inlet pipe and air grid
- Install new air grid and spent cat inlet pipe
- Install new Regen head and cyclones
- Install Regen OH line
- Tie in Regen and steam piping

Scope of Work
- Fabricate new Regen head and cyclones
- Fabricate new RX head and cyclones with upper plenum attached
- Fabricate new Regen air-grid
- Fabricate & install 300’ of 600# steam piping
- Fabricate & install 1,430’ of Regen & RX piping
- Air grid removal & replacement
- Refractory repair on shell
- Complete refractory repair on 6 cyclones
